Start yoga at home: A 3 steps quick guide
I’ve always been the shy guy, an introvert, quiet and mostly I like to be by myself and my own thoughts. Howev er, at the same time I have always been interested in Yoga.
I remember my first knowledge of this form exercise came to me when I was just a young boy at the age of 10 or 11.
I remember watching a documentary on TV, honestly I can’t remember what show it was, but I remembered being in awe at the rich history of this practice and how it was completely the opposite of what the western thought of exercise was, which involved a lot of panting, running, generally a lot of movement was involved.
Here was this form of exercise that involved slow and calming movements and yet provided almost the same benefits of what a traditional form of exercise would give you.
To be honest, I wasn’t much of an athlete really so as you can see how this form of exercise would appeal to me.
Fast forward many years later, read information from various books, actually attended some classes, I still felt a lot more comfortable doing yoga from the comforts of my own home.
There a sense of peace and relax-ness that came from being able to know that you can take your own sweet time in every pose that I certainly couldn’t get from doing it in a group.
Granted, there are a lot of advantages from doing yoga in a group, but I was happier doing it in private. 🙂
So I thought I would create this first article of my corner of the internet to inform everyone how they can start doing yoga at home. Here are 3 simple steps to do before you start:
First Step
Did you know that there are several schools of thought when it comes to Yoga? I certainly didn’t! I will hopefully cover the different schools of thought in future articles.
But yeah, there are many different types of yoga that you can get into, each with its own advantages , philosophy and way of practising. So first step is to learn which type of yoga suits best for you.
Second Step
Second…….Accessories! 🙂 Granted you don’t need to have anything to start practising yoga, but with the right equipment and the right clothing can really get you started in the right foot and most importantly put you in that right frame of mind. Imagine doing stretches in tight jeans! Is that comfortable?
Third Step
There are many books and information out there on the web at your convenience for you to start doing yoga at home, however I strongly suggest looking into specific yoga at home programs and products, basically for me I have always found it convenient to have everything in one package rather than having me search all over for the information. I will cover different products in the near future……so let me do the hard ground work for you! 🙂
In summary, you really don’t need much or over think things in order to start yoga at home, but definitely helps to get some information before you start .
Furthermore, attached is a short video that you might like on how to start doing yoga…Enjoy!
